Covington Independent Public School System
With an enrollment of nearly 4,000 students, the Covington Independent Public Schools is the largest independent school system in the State of Kentucky. The district has a preschool, five elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and an alternative program. Covington also is one of few high schools in Kentucky that operates its own career and technical center.
Kenton County School District
The southern portion of Covington is served by the The Kenton County School District, which is the fifth largest district in Kentucky.

Higher Education
Library
Kenton County Public Library serves the public from locations in Covington, Independence, and Erlanger. In 2013 and 2014, it was the only Star Ranked library in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Their Covington branch is located at 502 Scott Blvd., Covington, KY 41011.

Safety Training
The City of Covington Fire Department can assist you in finding CPR and First Aid training. Please email the CPR Instructor group at cprinstructor@covingtonky.gov with your contact information and requested class type (may take 2-3 days for a reply from one of the Instructors) or contact EMS Director David J. Geiger at (859) 292-2345.
Fire safety education is available to all 4th grade students in the City of Covington. For more information, contact Firefighter David Kennedy, Fire Safety Educator, at (859) 431-0463 or bkennedy@covingtonky.gov. David Kennedy is also available for fire extinguisher training.
The Fire Department also has access to a “Fire Safety House” that can be used for educational purposes or for events and festivals within Covington. The Fire Safety House features simulated smoke and fire events to educate the public on how to safely get out of a building, should a fire occur. To schedule the Fire Safety House, contact Company 1 at least 30 days prior to your event.
Historic Preservation Education
NKY Restoration Weekend is an annual educational conference that provides free access for both professionals and private property owners to continuing education on different topics related to owning, maintaining and rehabilitating historic buildings.
Additionally, Gateway Community & Technical College, Progress with Preservation and the City of Covington have collaborated to develop the Historic Preservation Trades program. For more information and to register for courses, click here.
