Covington's Fleet Management is a National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Blue Seal of Excellence certified shop. Staff consists of eight full-time employees; six ASE certified mechanics, one Clerk Typist, and the Fleet Manager. The shop currently provides major and minor service and repair to the City’s fleet of over 330 vehicles and equipment, including 191 Police Department vehicles, 32 Fire Department vehicles and equipment, 88 Public Improvement vehicles and equipment, and 19 Development and Code Enforcement vehicles. Fleet Management also provides services for other municipalities and non-profit organizations.

Services that the Fleet Management Division provides City vehicles and equipment include oil and fluid changes, tire service, and brake repairs. It also provides tune ups, preventative maintenance inspections, welding, fabrication, and emergency towing. Fleet Maintenance Division oversees all body repairs, outside vendor repairs and small equipment repairs. The Division also provides a mechanic on call, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year for emergency service vehicles, snow removal equipment and other City owned vehicles whenever necessary.
