The City of Covington has a number of boards and commissions on which city residents serve. Under Kentucky law, the Mayor appoints the members of these boards and commissions, subject to the approval of the City Commission. The various city boards and commissions, along with those citizens who serve on them, can be seen below.

MISSION

There is hereby created and established a cable television regulatory authority entitled the Telecommunications Board of N. KY, which shall be and is the successor agency to the former Cable Board.         

The purpose of the Board shall be to exercise jointly the powers of the respective Local Governments relating to telecommunication services pursuant to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, to administer the Franchise and regulate Cable Service and other telecommunication services and, to advise Local Governments in the exercise of their franchise authority and to perform any other functions, including the administration or regulation of other telecommunication laws, as may be granted by the Local Governments.

MEETINGS

The Telecommunications Board of Northern Kentucky holds regularly scheduled meetings on the third Wednesday of every month at 6pm.

Meetings are held at NKY Community TV Studios 3414 Decoursey Avenue, Covington, KY 41015

Opportunities to Serve Your Community!

The City of Covington has a number of Boards and Commissions on which Covington residents may serve. The City is currently accepting letters of interest from citizens who are interested in serving on one of these Boards or Commissions. A resume is required in addition to the letter of interest so that a person's qualifications may be evaluated as some Boards and Commissions require specialized training or knowledge.

The members of these Boards and Commissions are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Commission. Each Board or Commission has its own set of regulations, operating procedures, and meeting schedules, and most have been established by an Order/Resolution approved by the Mayor and Commission. In addition, some of the Board or Commission positions include a stipend, while others include no compensation.
