Under Kentucky law, the Mayor appoints the members of these boards and commissions, subject to the approval of the City Commission. The various city boards and commissions, along with those citizens who serve on them, can be seen below.

MISSION

95.530  (1) In cities with a pension fund established under KRS 95.520 where there are fewer than six (6) active members of the pension fund, except as provided by subsection (3) of this section, the board of trustees of the policeman's and firefighter's pension is composed of the mayor, city treasurer or chief financial officer, and one (1) retired member each from the police and fire departments. The retired members from the police and fire departments, shall be elected by the respective retired members of those departments annually by ballot, one (1) from each department, and shall serve for one (1) year and until their respective successors are elected and qualified. The board shall select from their number a president and a secretary.

    Opportunities to Serve Your Community!

    The City of Covington has a number of Boards and Commissions on which Covington residents may serve. The City is currently accepting letters of interest from citizens who are interested in serving on one of these Boards or Commissions. A resume is required in addition to the letter of interest so that a person's qualifications may be evaluated as some Boards and Commissions require specialized training or knowledge.

    The members of these Boards and Commissions are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Commission. Each Board or Commission has its own set of regulations, operating procedures, and meeting schedules, and most have been established by an Order/Resolution approved by the Mayor and Commission. In addition, some of the Board or Commission positions include a stipend, while others include no compensation.
