Under Kentucky law, the Mayor appoints the members of these boards and commissions, subject to the approval of the City Commission. The various city boards and commissions, along with those citizens who serve on them, can be seen below.

MISSION

    The Parking Authority Board shall have the power of acquisition, incurring of debt, creation and operation of public street and off-street parking facilities.  The Board shall be comprised of five (5) members, all of whom shall be residents of the city or pay occupational tax to the city for a period of at least one (1) year prior to the creation of the Board and shall reside or pay occupational taxes in the city throughout the term in office. At all times, there shall be no fewer than three (3) residents on the Board.

Opportunities to Serve Your Community!

The City of Covington has a number of Boards and Commissions on which Covington residents may serve. The City is currently accepting letters of interest from citizens who are interested in serving on one of these Boards or Commissions. A resume is required in addition to the letter of interest so that a person's qualifications may be evaluated as some Boards and Commissions require specialized training or knowledge.

The members of these Boards and Commissions are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Commission. Each Board or Commission has its own set of regulations, operating procedures, and meeting schedules, and most have been established by an Order/Resolution approved by the Mayor and Commission. In addition, some of the Board or Commission positions include a stipend, while others include no compensation.
