Under Kentucky law, the Mayor appoints the members of these boards and commissions, subject to the approval of the City Commission. MISSION

  • Conducts disciplinary hearings for the City non-uniform employees who are protected by the State’s Civil Service laws.
  • The Mayor appoints board members who are approved by the Board of Commissioners as provided for in Covington Code of Ordinances Section 34.42. Members are paid $25 for the first hour and $15 for each additional hour when they meet. The rate is $25 per hour for disciplinary hearings.

Opportunities to Serve Your Community!

The City of Covington has a number of Boards and Commissions on which Covington residents may serve. The City is currently accepting letters of interest from citizens who are interested in serving on one of these Boards or Commissions. A resume is required in addition to the letter of interest so that a person's qualifications may be evaluated as some Boards and Commissions require specialized training or knowledge.

The members of these Boards and Commissions are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Commission. Each Board or Commission has its own set of regulations, operating procedures, and meeting schedules, and most have been established by an Order/Resolution approved by the Mayor and Commission. In addition, some of the Board or Commission positions include a stipend, while others include no compensation.
