Covington Police Department Community Surveillance Program
Description
Do you have a private video surveillance system at your home or business? If you answered yes, the Covington Police Department would like to hear from you.
Many residents and business owners have surveillance systems operating at their property location. Often residents/business owners are not aware that their system may have recorded a crime that occurred near their property. In turn, the police are not always aware these recordings exist, which may be vital to solving a criminal investigation.
The Covington Police Department is asking Covington residents and businesses to partner with them in creating a database to catalog the surveillance systems in the community.
If you have a video surveillance system, the Covington Police Department is encouraging you to register the location and capabilities of your surveillance system with them. After registering, participants would only be contacted by the Covington Police Department if there is a criminal incident in the vicinity of their location.
There is no fee to participate in this program. All information will be kept confidential and will be for official use only. Personal information will remain confidential and not be distributed except as required by law or court order. Participation is completely voluntary.
