Fire Hydrants
The Covington Fire Department works with the Northern Kentucky Water District to maintain fire hydrants for use in firefighting activities. If you have a question or problem regarding a fire hydrant in your neighborhood, please call Northern Kentucky Water District. For emergency service after hours, you may call Covington Fire Company 1 or Kenton County Communications.

Fire Safety Concerns
If you see an immediate fire safety hazard on private or public property, please call 911. If you want to report any other fire safety concern, please contact Assistant Fire Chief Glenn "J.R." Johnson at 859-292-2344 or email gjohnson@covingtonky.gov. The Covington Fire Department performs annual safety inspections in businesses and rental properties in the City throughout the year.

Hanging Power Lines & Live Wires
The first rule of safety is do not touch a power line or anything touching a power line, such as tree limbs, tools and toys. Power lines that have fallen may be dangerous and should not be moved or disturbed.
To report a loose, live wire down call 911 immediately. The Fire Department is usually the first on the scene to assess the damage and will liaise with the utility company if needed.
If there is a hazardous condition such as a wire hanging low or lying on the ground, call Duke immediately at 800.543.5599.
